Question Power Unit 8P but mobo has 12P??

Hi there,

I just bought a MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON and it has a total of 12 CPU power pins or 8 CPU2PWR and 4 CPU1PWR

My power supply is a relatively new EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3, 80 Plus Gold 650W but it only has 2 X 4 pin power connectors.

Will it work if I just plug power into the 8 pin. It's not powering up at all currently but I just want to eliminate this as an issue.

According to the manual the 4 pin and the 8 pin need to be connected.

If don't have a 4 and an 8 I would buy a new supply.
