I was only talking about single GPU. I ordered both the 280x and the 290 (non X) to decide which I wanted to keep. The 290 was around 10 FPS better then 280x in everything at 1080p. So yes.. the 290 as a single card is totally worth it at 1080p. The 290 is worth it over the 280x in 1080p. Most people buy single cards.. not CF or SLI.

so is this review for the 290 or the 290x? best pricing for the 290x is still like $550, and that's newegg/microcenter pricing. i don't remember the 290X hitting $700, or were they?

oh yeah the 290x was 700 and 290 maybe 600ish on newegg and amazon probably 3 months back. I waited and waited and got a 290 vapor x finally for 450 a week ago. It just broke unfortunetly and I had to return it to amazon. Pink trees and other weird lighting things in games. Good news is I get to keep the 3 digital games that came with it.

Also no 4k gaming test ? Isn't that where the AMD card would shine compared to the Nvidia card ?
