powercolor r9-290x battlefield 4 edition VS asus gefore gtx 780

Solution
Get a Gtx 780 it is same price as a R9 290x and the performance it a bit better on a single screen.
But for $100 less you have a card that is about the same as the R9 290x which is a great card too:

You can overclock the R9 290 to the performance of a stock R9 290x so if you are on a budget this might be the best option.
But out of those...

But out of those two I would go for a Gtx 780 since it is cheaper then a R9 290x and it is a bit better.

Solution

You will only use the memory when playing on higher res, in 4K gaming they perform about the same, but on a single screen the Gtx 780 is a bit better then the R9 290x
Memory is not the only thing that matters for a graphics card.

Yes it is about as fast as a Titan, but the nvidia card have better OC and thermal design.
TBH it depends a lot on the games you play in some games the R9 290x is better then the Gtx 780 and Titan
but in other gamas the nvidia cards are faster. I would go with whichever one is cheaper.

Your looking at 4GB vs 3GB, and asking which is better, now if you want to ask more specifically as to what you are doing with it, that might change things, i.e. multiple monitors (3 or more), gaming, video rendering, CAD, resolution, etc, but the basic premise of which GPU itself is stronger, which runs cooler, which OCs better, doesn't change...there's a lot more to a GPU than the DRAM
