Powercolour 5850 no video input

I finally got the last bits I've been waiting on for my first ever pc build. Put them all together how I'm meant to(or so I
thought), turned it on and ....nothing. The monitor is showing no video input.
I'm using the grey pcie port on the asus m4a79xtd motherboard, I did have it in the blue port but reread the manual to see the grey one is a universal. I also have two 6-pin power supplies going into the card.
I'm using the little supplied adapter to allow me to connect the vga monitor to the dvi port, and I've tried the cable in both ports on the graphics card.
Any ideas what I could have done wrong?
any and all help will make me a happy bunny, especially if it works lol, i really want to get it up and running tonight.

I forgot to say that I've got it all in an Antec 300 so no system speaker :S

nevermind i figured it out, turns out the setup vid i watched for my motherboard(you know the one i watched to make sure i knew what to do) was missing a vital step! the secondary power supply!
i spose that'll teach me for watching videos trying to learn stuffs!!
