I was just wondering if i can use a regular 7.5v plug with the ps1, i have one but im not getting any power to the ps1, and im not sure yet if the console itself is broken or if i just need a cord specifically for playstations. I also have a ps2 cord but its 8.5 volts and it doesn't work either. Should it work?

Most probably you're talking about "power supply adapter" - a brick-like piece with cables for electrical outlet, and another cable for your console. "Power Cord" usually means just a cable, with connectors at both ends to be plugged somewhere.

On your question: Your console should have power rating on the label, both volts (V) and amps (A). The adapter you want to use should match volts, and provide at least same amount of amps. It's withoug saying that polarity (plus / minus) should match.

The ps1 is labeled 7.5 volts. One cable i have is 7.5v but doesn't have the brick part, it just goes straight to the outlet. The second cord i have is a ps2 cord with the brick part and plug, but its 8.5v.

So is there anyone who would know if those cables are suppose to work with the ps1 slim? I don't want to buy a new cable just to find out the ps1 doesn't work and have wasted my money.
Thanks.
