Powered USB hubs

I have 6 mobile devices that I want to sync with my desktop and charge at the same time. All have USB interfaces. I bought one powered 6 port usb hub and discovered that it does not have enough power to charge more than two of the devices. I do not want to have to buy several usb ports to get this job done and then have to deal with all of the extra cables as well. Is there some way to buy one or two hubs that will allow me to to sync and charge at the same time with the same usb cable?

Sounds like all six mobile devices use the extended power specs of 2A instead of 500mA for charging. 6*2A=12A at 5V = 60VA / Watts. I have never seen a hub with a power supply that big.

You may need to do what I did. Go to walmart (Thats where I got mine) and look in the charger area and you can find a wall plug that has 4 usb ports for charging. Its not pc obviously, but you can charge 4 at a time.

Also you wont find a hub that only connects by USB and can charge all the your stuff. The thing isn't magic, it cant provide 5v 2A to six different components if its only got 5v 2A to begin with.

Its not 6 ports nor will it allow connectivity to your PC, but something like this would help.

Cheap USB power hubs are exactly that, cheap, and you cant be sure they can actually output the amperage it says (or you assume) it should. Antec is a good brand who make fairly good PSU's, it should do what it says on the box.

As for connecting things to your PC, one way I have found to bring up the number of accessible USB ports is to get some USB extension cables and plug them into ports on the back of your motherboard, which usually goes unused due to the difficulty of getting at them. Glue the female end somewhere convenient on your desk.
