Powerline Network # of adapters

I want to connect 2 PC's using a powerline connection, and I need to know this. Can one 500 mb/s adapter supply enough bandwidth through the wall for two 200 mb/s adapters, or not? Also, is it even possible for ONE adapter to pair with two more? Will I need to plug TWO adapters into the router for this?

What I'm saying is, can the one adapter plugged into the router connect to multiple other adapters or do you have to pair them.

It doesn't work that way. If you use 500m and 200m adapters the whole network will run at the slower speed. With just 1 pair of network adapters running at 200 you would get about 50m of actual usable throughput. Running 3 will drop this down to about 30m total but it greatly depends on the traffic. The problem with 3 adapter networks is they form a direct connection between the 2 pc even though you might not actually have traffic between them.

Plugging 2 adapters into the router meaning you are now running 2 pair will likely work worse. The 2 pair of devices will assume they can each use the electrical wires and stomp all over each other. Now if you were to use the same key/password the 2 units connected to the router would likely form a loop and make your network unusable.

For best results I would run 3 device that are rated for the 500m speed. You want to use the same brand. You likely would get about 30 per device like this. If you can afford it the newest devices so call 600/1200m device run even faster.

Still it does no good to buy really fast powerline units if your internet is slower.

If I go ahead and do the thing with three of them, would the direct connection you mentioned between the two pc's create any problems?

No it is a good thing to have if you ever wanted to share files. The bandwidth is reserved for this connection even if you never use it.
