Powerline networking product makers are playing the same throughput spec game as wireless manufacturers have. For example, Homeplug Turbo devices advertise 85Mbps, but typically deliver 10Mbps.

HomePlug AV devices have a maximum spec of 200Mbps, but as yet unknown actual speed.

To make any kind of wired solution worthwhile it really needs to beat wireless hands-down in terms of speed and reliability. I think 100mbit is the magic point for this.

I'm really hoping the upcoming MoCA products will be able to do this nicely over Coax. Lots of houses have coax in almost every room.

You Have Western Digital's AV PowerLine LiveWire thatis rated at 200Mbps with 128bit AES Encryption for around $80-$100 it seems like 200Mbps is the standard! Also Has 7 ports free after router!

coaxial cable also can use to transmission data, networking.
It is more convienient, as you said lots of hourses have coax, so coaxiable adapter also a good choice.
