Hello, i just bought a new system and asembled it, problem is that when i turn the power on it immediatly shuts down again, wont even get into bios. I've tried just about everything i can think of but still nothing. I can only get it to run if i unplugg the cpu. any ideas would be helpfull.

Specs:
Asus A7V8X/LAN /GD motherboard
AMD Athlon XP2400+ cpu
TwinMOS pc2700 ddr-ram 512 mb cl 2
400w psu.

First, make sure the P/S is running at the correct voltage. I had one overseas that I took back to the states and still had it set to run with 220 Volts and it did the same thing you are talking about now. Next thing, make sure your CPU is not chipped, crushed, pins broken, etc...Then make sure you have your RAM plugged in ok. I was wondering if you even got to a BIOS screen? If you do get a BIOS screen, I'd say it's your processor. If you don't...you motherboard. I just got an Abit motherboard from the manufacturer and it wouldn't boot up at all...They replaced it for free. Hope you work it out.

Heh...sorry bout that, didn't see that you said you didn't get to the BIOS....I'd say your motherboard/CPU have a problem. If you have a extra computer, try plugging in your processor to it and if it powers up, ship the motherboard back.

Maybe there is a ground fault from the mobo to the case? Make sure no pins or stuff touch the metal
