Hi All,

I've been running the same RAID now for many years and recently needed to upgrade my CPU/MOBO.

As my RAID was running direct off the mobo i have decided to run the original system as a media server next to the new PC.

I migrated across my original OS drive to the new machine and that is running fine, but when i reinstalled windows 10 on a separate SSD for the original machine i have lost the ability to read the RAID.

The raid is reading as functional in the BIOS, and RaidXpert is showing the same; all drives healthy and functional with the RAID showing as intact.

Windows Computer Management (Disk Management) is showing the disk as available, but keeps asking me to initialize it.
When i cancel the option to initialize the disk, it still shows as a healthy partition.

Windows file explorer shows the drive as well, but when i select it, i am prompted to format it.

This leads me to believe Windows is missing a driver.

I have downloaded and installed the driver: "amd-nvme-raid-chipset-drivers_0830" but this has not solved the problem.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-9-series-chipsets/990fx

From the above website i also downloaded the "Sata Raid Windows Driver_9_2_0_70", but when opening the folder, i could not find any application to run.

I was hoping that i could get some help with the next step in the process.

ISTM that the OP should have cloned the original SSD to the new SSD.

I suspect that there are settings in Storage Spaces which were not preserved when the new SSD was installed in place of the original one. I don't know anything about Storage Spaces, but it would appear that each of the component drives contains Storage Spaces metadata. I don't know how this is possible if all the physical drives are behind a RAID controller. As I understand it, Windows should only see a 16TB virtual physical disk, not the individual drives. :-?

IMHO Storage Spaces is a silly idea that massively complicates data management (and recovery).

Edit:

Can CrystalDiskInfo and DMDE see the individual 4TB HDDs?

Do the individual disk drives appear under Disk Drives in Device Manager?

Where do the individual drives or the 16TB RAID appear in Device Manager when you select View -> Devices by Connection?
