I just built my new PC and am waiting for my CPU cooler to arrive before I can use it. Can I plug my new SSD into my old PC and install Windows on it so long?
No, probably not. It is much safer to use a USB stick because of different drivers. Just download the Windows 10 ISO on the old computer and put the ISO on a USB stick.

It's not a great idea , because it probably won't boot because of the hardware differences , drivers , chipsets etc. Best to perform a clean install on the new PC.

No.
The OS needs to be installed on the system where it will live.
