I am in need of a new computer, im currently an MSI GP60 2QF Leopard Pro, Nvidia GTX950M, Intel Core i5-4210H @ 2.90 GHz, 8 GB RAM, and like 750GB HDD. This laptop is a few years old now and with the limited GPU and hard drive space, its a nightmare since i use it for school as well. I need a new gaming rig that is under $1000 but i can manage if its over that. 2 TB hdd would be preferred as well. thanks!

Ive messed with really old rigs by taking them apart and putting them together again, im just not sure im capable of doing it myself without screwing something up and i dont have any resources near me or people that know how to.

It's relatively fool proof. And there are tons of YouTube videos and resources on these forums to help you.

I'll show you what I mean budget wise.

Do you need a monitor (what resolution will you run at if you want one or not in the budget)

Keyboard?

Mouse?

I shouldnt need peripherals, just the desktop itself but if you could recommend some monitors that would be nice and at 1920x1080

as above says its relatively simple. certainly not as hard as it used to be. pretty much everything is plug and play so it is pretty difficult to get it wrong...
first timers will typically need 5 hours for there first build and that includes the install time. so as long as you can set that time aside and have a clear workspace.
yeah there's no real reason why you cant build your own system...

If you didn't want the monitor included in the $1000 will do a second one with a good 1080 monitor in it

Bit over budget but you'd be knocking a chunk off of the quality or performance to go any lower. I'd cut cost on the monitor if $36 is huge to you before taking out of the rest of the build
