I haven't been around for a CPU release in a long time. I was looking at maybe getting the i9 9900k and saw that there is a $50 price difference on it between Amazon and Newegg. Is this normal? I assume that Intel has a suggested price these should be sold for and both Amazon and Newegg know what other retailers are pricing. So why would anyone buy from Newegg? Does this mean they might have more stock to sell and therefore people have a better chance of getting it through Newegg preorder and they know they can charge more for that fact?

I'm not sure on the pricing difference but I do know that when I talked to a rep at newegg he said on launch they always get shorted the batch amount so people generally have to wait a week or 2 for them to get it in stock and ship it.

He also mentioned they had about 700ish preorders so far I believe at the time (late last week) and a lot were cancelling.
