[citation][nom]Pyroflea[/nom]Aww, the millionaire is sad that he doesn't get paid. This is why I refuse to listen to any music that's been deemed "popular". All they're in it for is the money. On another since, since when does PRINCE of all people know anything about technology, and/or have any say?[/citation]

All music artists who sell their music are in it for the fame and money. Just an FYI. Otherwise they'd sit in their bedroom and play to themselves. Every bandy I've encountered is something of a self-promoter, and they should be.

Gosh, prince may be a dunce but there's a lot of dunces here submitting comments on prince. Let me explain to you all...prince means the internet is over FOR MUSIC DISTRIBUTION. Not over for everything. We may debate prince's music point of view(and he very well may be 100% wrong) but misunderstanding someone on purpose just to laugh at them is pathetic. Grow up people.

[citation][nom]Real1[/nom]I just bet if he would have said something along the lines of loving the internet and being so into technology, you hypocrites would instead be saying how much you've always loved his music and how much of a "genius" he is. Oh but of course you are going to deny that right now because that's not what he said and you want to make yourselves appear "fair-minded". But be honest with yourselves; you're not. You're whiny hypocrites.[/citation]

Doubt it, the guy's a self preening idiot who's always relied on a heavily media produced 'sex god' image to sell his rather lack lustre music. I've always thought that and always will, who cares what his views are, excepting that they prove he's as vacant and shallow on the inside as he presents himself on the outside

[citation][nom]godnodog[/nom]Well.... aS far as i know MTV always sucked, except the time for Jon Stewart...[/citation]You must be about 16, right?

They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you.
prince music is number notes and it's good for you
get real old man learn to deal with it (then internet.
is great in moderation like your music

WOW, and i thought that politicians were out of touch! He's so stuck in his own bubble, he doesnt even realize the ramifications of his own quote. Why MTV isnt relevant anymore: THE INTERNET!!

The worst of it is i think he knows he's full of it. Hes just greedy, and thinks he's justifying it... he also thinks ppl are gullible enough to accept what he says...thats the out of touch-ness showing through again!

Someone should break the news to him that hes not relevant.

This reminds me of a comment I read from some IT big wig in like 93 saying that the Internet will never replace stores for shopping as who would want to buy something with out human interaction and such. He said that it was a fad and that he is moving his money all of out of the tech sector...

Poor guy was bassackwards upside down wrong, I love when people pro-claim something....

Ohhhhhh boooo hoooo hoooo... they won't pay me in advance.... what that means is he likes the model where the stores all buy 1 million copies and he gets the royalties for that, whether they sell or sit.... the "Internet" way, you get paid only if people actually buy it, not the middle man... that is what he doesn't like... He would change his mind probably if iTunes or Amazon pre-paid him for a million copies whether he sold that many or not...

Now do you see why the MPAA and RIAA are scared... stores had to buy some many units and that was guaranteed sales.... at least from Studio to Store hence artist gets paid.... If it doesn't sell it doesn't matter at that point to prince or the Movie studio's if they put out crap or not because now the Store has to move those copies...

If you do everything online, you have to do things better because then the only way to make money is to not make crap and have people buy it, and we know that is a lot harder to do.... what is the real stat that less than 25% of movies make money.... even less for music... if they had to live by live sales, the RIAA/MPAA would be done... gone, over, and thats why they are sue-ing everyone... soon, if you are a blind person, they will charge extra for the seeing eye dog....

His Purpleness has spoken, I was foolish to believe in the interwebz, and I'm thankful he has set me straight! (sarcasm (did i need to say?))

Dude go get a life, no go get 2, you're too damn short and maybe 2 will help you grow up!

Irrelevant bastard, go check on MJ and leave the living the fuck alone!

Prince is the type of guy who is so far in to his own universe (surpassing even Steve Jobs) that if you gave him 1000 bucks and threw him in the streets of San Francisco without a cell phone he'd die of starvation in 2 weeks.

10 minutes after the CD is in the shops it will be ripped, uploaded and on torrent sites. Prince should stop being such an ass and try to get as many sales from legitimate downloads as possible.

Man... Prince is so out of touch. I cant remember the last time I bought a CD... besides if I do its being ripped for my iPod and my PSP. Seeing that the internet is where a lot of people spend their time, I can only assume that he is speaking to his core audience that may be afraid of computers... maybe. I hope this helps his numbers for album sales because I still love Prince.

He has some point. True music was lost by them time Apple and other x-pirate-hunters, started to sell it through the internet for $0.99 like it was carrots or apricots.

Alternatively, instead of making even a tiny bit of money via downloads, let the pirates buy a CD, rip it, then widely distibute it via torrent sites.

Sorry, not sure I get your 'point'.
