I have recently built a computer running Win XP64. When I went to install the printer drivers for my Canon I850 it failed due to 64/32 bit incompatability.

Canon doesn't have any 64 bit drivers for me. Does anyone know if there are similar/generic drivers that may work?

Rather than say I know---which I don't---I will make two general comments.

1. Since the i850 is out of warranty, regular Canon phone tech support costs.
But e-mail tech support is free and worth a try through Canon.

2. Two forums I recommend are "steves digicams" and "nifty stuff forums"
Just google the name without the quotes---these forums are more likely to know the answer to your question.

But I agree with you---its a giant curse to have a working printer and not see the manufacter follow through with working drivers for new OS's.

Install it as a new printer..... Select i will choose witch driver to install and pick the Canon Bubble Jet BJC-8000 printer..... This driver comes with Windows XP 64 and will allow you to print with the Canon i850 and i850s... This is the only driver I have found so far that will work in Windows XP64 with an Canon i850 so far....However, it beats dual booting or replacing a perfectly good printer or an operating system you have become used to....This will fix your problems until you get yourself a new OS.

Good Luck..

P.S.
You may get a "document failed to print" error after it prints this is the annoying catch you will have to put up with until Canon gets off their ^*^*%&$% and fixes this problem
