Printer lost connection to computer

My HP Photo 966 printer has always worked perfectly with my Gateway computer. On Friday, I was having computer problems and some "remote" technicians helped me for several hours. Computer is fine now but when I try to print, I get a message that the printer is not communicating wth the computer. I checked the Firewalls and Norton is on and Windows 7 is off. All power is fine. Cable has been disconnected and reconnected. Any ideas as to what may be wrong or what I should try next?

Uninstall all HP software, remove the printer from Device Manager, start the setup for printer clean.
