I have just completed 8 wonderful years using the Panasonic 4451i Laser printer. It's time to say goodbye to it. I'd like some suggestions for a comperable replacement black and white laser printer. My main interest is durability. Thanks.

Thank you for your response, upec.

You know, I really haven't figured the budget part out yet. Part of my problem about buying a printer after all of these years is that I do not know the market. Has parallel technology come down in price? Has it gone up in price? I simply do not know.

The 4451i cost $1,000 new. I certainly would not want to pay more than that for a new machine.

The original retain buyer also separately purchased a feed-thru tray, that I use as my main feeder tray (envelopes, color paper, etc.). I bought the entire package about 5000 copies used for $500. I would not want to pay more for a used machine.

Most probably, the 4451i lasted this long for me because my use has been way below the designed duty cycle for the machine. My monthly use rarely exceeds about 250 copies and is usually a lot
less.

I know this is a long answer. However, I hope it gives you some idea of where I am coming from about price range. Again, my primary interest is durability.

Thanks.

Thank you, Bob. I did not know that Samsung made laser printers. I'll check out the web site

Thank you again for your response, upec. My tech tells me that Panasonic stopped putting durable components in their printers years ago.

This a printer deal I find on the web. It is an Ricoh AP2100. It is on sale for $299. Most people say this is a good printer.

A person on the forum checked his copier sales rep (Minolta--a competitor of ricoh's) and he says that it's a good product, and for the price, nobody can touch it. He recommended that I order it. I did.

This is the forum I find it. You can find other command on the printer.
