Common practice, just visit your local drug store. PrintRite is a big
brand, used their dotmatrix ribbons in the past.

Perhaps you can actually back this up with some evidence of who makes
the ink and who sells the ink. Seriously that would come in handy.

Why? All you need do is pick an ink you like based on other people's
reccomendations and continue using it. As you just pointed out one mfg
might sell to 30 places so it makes it really easy to find. Thanks for
this bit of wisdom measekite.

But if you don't want to play this game, it's not an issue as PrintRite
is sold in retail stores in a retail box. Not that i'd reccomend
PrintRite or anything just they are one of the major brands available.
If you feel more comfortable buying brand name products more power to
you.

Dataproducts is what Staples uses
NCR is what office max uses
NuKote(Pelikan) is what office depot uses

I'm not sure who sells PriteRite these days but they do import a good
deal into this country, otherwise Epson wouldn't have been on their
butts.

So what you need to do is take measekite's commont and mix it with
reality. It's true that many companies might sell the same product.
If you are happy with the product you can buy it from anyone you choose
with some assurance the ink is the same. Or buy the name brand if you
like. Sometimes it costs more, sometimes it doesn't... but if that
label and logo make you feel better by all means go for it.

I live in the UK and I've been using PrintRite inks for several years now in
my Epsons.

I did a colour chart test to compare PrinRite, Epson and PC World inks.
There was nothing to choose between the first two (except the price). PC
World was truly awful.

I have had *no* clogging problems whatever with PrintRite.

Yep, no argument there, was just pointing the fact that they are
willing to do a label service and that they exported 80-84% of there
products that is, no wonder Epson was getting a little 'peeved',
funny no other manufacturer seemed to have been mentioned, Canon, HP
etc certainly don't seem to be as concerned as Epson.

First of all,
The reason for the post was to bring to attention the manufacturer of
Print Rite inks and their possible court battle with Epson and the
fact that they produce other brand names apart from Print Rite.

Why anyone should get in a tassle with those who use alternative inks
I'll never understand, some people prefer ink other than OEM to save
cash no doubt, nothing wrong with that.

There just gotta be good and bad ink suppliers out there are we saying
they all conform to the manufacturers specifications, there is bound
to be 'corner cutting' along the way, still no one can name them.

It is always OEM v 3rd party v refilling, nothing wrong with any of
them.

The problem arises in these pages I'd say because of the clogging
issue and the expense of replacement OEM ink.

Some of the comments would nausiate a 'glue sniffer', must be the ink
fumes...!

But Toyota doesn't make the stereo. They typicaly won't tell you who
did. However companies like alpine are more than happy to make stereos
with a Toyota label on them.

Rebadging is a common practice.

I guess RCA and Casio are *NO NAMES* then. Much of their stuff was made
by Tandy... but much of it was rebadged big name stuff. And they
wouldn't disclose it. They have since changed but rebading happens all
the time in many industries.

I thought formulabs was a wholesale brand, as in the best you could hope
for is a label with the ink catalog number and the lot number from which
it was made. Now if you were ask the same of Media Street... this is
not a problem... this info is on their website. Lyson is also offered
in a retail box. As is PrintRite which is rather the topic of this
post. You will find this stuff in traditional photo shops.

You see, different businesses choose to do business in differnt ways.
Being a standford MBA you would know this already. The problem is you
are trying to prove your point by showing an isolated case. Companies
like Image Specalists and Sensinent are basicly following the gas
station model... providing a bulk product for others to handel the
filling, advertising, the customer relations. These are the people who
you would deal with if you needed 20 to 40 foot trailers of ink.

Are there brands of gas? I know there are main stream gas stations but
there are also mini-marts that may or may not disclose what gas they are
putting into your car.

Media Street followed a more retail model... first offering their
product on their site offering drop shipping services but expanding to
retail stores.

Zake - I see that MK is still at it. I only get his misinformation second
hand when someone answers him as I have killfiled him. No challenge trying
to talk sense with a fool or a demigogue.

His bit about the FDA is really a joke! Tell it to the people who died from
ecoli tainted beef a few years ago. He is focused on clogs. Consider the
effect on coronary arteries from the hydrogenated fats or tropical oils that
are in 98% of the commercial baked goods and fried fast foods. Talk about
clogs! America's coronary arteries will never be the same. These
FDA-permitted products are enough to support a new generations of
cardiologists and funeral homes. How about the artificial sweeteners that
have been shown to produce cancer in test animals. Consider the effect of
food coloring agents on people who are allergic or have other medical
conditions that are affected by these unnecessary products that are
permitted by the FDA. Don't even go to the issue of increasing obesity and
the level of soda pop/fast food consumption in our youth. MK doesn't know
what he doesn't know! I'll leave you with one last word regarding the FDA
and clogs - Vioxx.

Leica is a brand of camera. I'm familar with their rangfinders. Near
as i'm aware their cameras don't have stereos on board.

But you see, you just proved my point. Toyota won't tell you who makes
their factory stereo. Why should they? If they told you who made their
stereo then you could go out and buy an afermarket stereo and not pay
the dealer premium for it. This is normal for the branding business.
Sometimes when you buy a rebaged stereo from the dealer it's the lowest
bid stereo. This is most common with the cheepo AM/FM stereo that might
come with a model just to say it has a stereo.

But just like in the ink industry not everyone will tell you who made
the ink there are exceptions. You see infinity uses bose, acura uses
alpine. They don't rebadge their stereos because it's a selling point
of the car. I don't know this for a fact because i'm perfectly happy
with after market stereos.

Keep in mind also that the Bose on the Infiniti G35 is an OPTION, part
of the premium package for $2,450.00. They also have a base model
speaker that they won't tell you what they are. I have no idea who
makes the stock stereo... and neither do you. This is the difference
between you and I. I know things, you get your information from
websites and adverts without reading the details. You might learn from
this experence so you don't appear foolish in the future. That's a good
boy.

Thank you for proving my point. Rebadging is a common practice. In the
cars you listed you can either pick the premium package and get a name
brand speakers and stereo or you can go with the factory badged stereo
that they won't tell you who made it.

Well I guess this duty hole has the duty to inform you when you are
wrong. PriteRite is a retail brand, formulabs is a wholesale brand.
