So first my friend had the problem with getting 100% disk no matter what was open after he updated
"Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3201845)"

i have just updated my system to the latest update and now i'm getting constant 50% disk usage no matter what i have open everything else is fine, i see all these posts with 100% disk so i'm assuming something to do with the update but is there any reason mine is capped at 50% 24/7?

any reason why the update would affect anything? i have an ssd and a hdd but i know for a fact its windows update cause my friend un installed and its back to normal, is it just the update? or certain people

It seems affect more people with ssd's and hard drives then just hard drives. Other than that, no idea. MS is pretty cagey about what exactly is in their updates these days. That KB lists some Explorer Cache fixes, and something about reading Super Floppy-formatted fixed disks, that's all it says about media changes. But it could really be anything.

According to this Reddit thread:

They say Windows Performance Recorder is to blame. From an Admin command prompt "WPR -cancel" will kill it until next reboot.
