Hello

When I install the hardware and turn on the computer, it does show the first screen of Bios (asking to press ESC for setup etc.) but it gets stuck there. If I do press ESC nothing happens. It just gets stuck and you hear a beep every now and then.

When I switch back to Radeon HD 7770 it works ok again.

I suspected power problem, and installed Corsair CX600, no results - same happened.

The motherboard is Foxconn 2ABF (LGA 1155 socket). I think it is PCI Express 2.0, but as said Radeon HD 7770 (a PCI 3.0 card, too) did work

As suggested try a BIOS update. Also remove the old driver whilst the PC has the old GPU in it. Once removed shut down and install the new gpu and then try booting up.

Side note, the CX600 is a poor quality unit. A lower wattage but higher quality unit would have been better but this is not causing your problem.

CX is tier 4 on Tom's own list which puts it under the "not for gaming PC bracket" http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

The CX range have a poor reputation and I've seen 2 failed units, 1 caused damage to a mobo and gpu.

Fortunately 600w is massive overkill for this system, as gaming systems go this is an efficient low power requirement setup.

The new CXM range I have read good things about though

I think tier 4 is harsh in my opinion, just because of the secondary caps. They generally get good reviews and I have used them quite a lot with no issues.

All units in mass production are bound to get some failures, but generally I think the CX units are ok (no seasonic or superflowers, but decent none the less).
