Hello,

I just finished putting together my new build and can't seem to install windows 7 on my 950 Pro M.2.

Mobo: Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 6

I updated to the latest BIOS (F3). I got a driver for the SSD from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3rvoop/samsung_950_pro_nvme_ssd_windows_7_64/

Burned it to a CD because I couldn't get it to read from a USB. Loaded the driver during Windows setup. Seemed to work but then Windows said it couldn't install to this drive with a couple of different errors.

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

I formatted the partition and then got this error"

"Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300001."

Anyone know what to do?

Solution
Yeah the new nvme ssd drives only support uefi boot meaning your running a legacy install you have to go into bios and turn off csm legacy support or turn o. Force uefi under csm legacy support
Which method are you trying to install Windows? Are you simply booting to USB/CD and trying to install? This tries to install Windows using MBR partitioning. I think the 950 Pro requires GPT install based on your error. I'm running a 950 PRO NVMe as my primary/boot drive as well. If you did try to install this way, you need to go into the UEFI and force UEFI boot for your CD/USB drive. This will then go through the Windows install process using GPT method. I also installed mine using the GPT method.
