Problem MSI N560GTX-TI Hawk GPU

Hello everyone

I installed a new mobo and cpu yesterday, now my GPU suddenly doesn't work anymore.
The installed mobo is an Asus z87-DELUXE, the CPU is an Intel i7 4770k.

The GPU is a MSI N560GTX-TI Hawk, the board goes in 00AE (Legacy boot mode) mode after going POST. The screen stays black and nothing happens. The VGA_LED turns on red and stays red, this means that there is a problem there (according by the book).

All LEDS are running on my GPU and the fans are running aswel, when I put in my old MSI n9500GT it does work. The onboard graphics work aswel.
I tried putting my graphics priority to PCIE, then it worked once but after that not anymore again.
The drivers have been updated, my HDD has been wiped and a fresh copy of windows 7 x64 is installed.

Have I missed anything or is my GPU dead?

I'm assuming you've put in the latest bios? Also the drivers are up to date? Up to date drivers with old bios can cause such issues

My drivers were updated, my bios wasn't I updated it to 1802 from 1504, but no effect, It does the same thing. My GPU is not updated yet because the PC doesn't start with that one in, do I have to install the driver first and then put in the GPU because I have never had to do that before.

Now that you've updated your bios, try uninstalling all drivers related to the gpu in question. Run ccleaner. Shut down. Install only gpu in question and you should be able to post and be prompted to install drivers. Win 7, 8 should be able to "see" with the gpu with built in drivers until you update with appropriate drivers specific and up to date for the gpu in question.

Tried but that didn't work, I can now hear the windows sound boot up, but I still have no video output.
After about a minute of having 00AE 'legacy boot event' he now goes to 00A0 aswel, this is the normal boot procedure.
The VGA_LED is still on, so there is still something wrong.

When I replace it back to my old GPU, I now get an windows system repair request due to windows not being able to boot up last time.
I tried doing the system repair but after 2 times of doing it, it says it can't repair it and that I have to disconnect any media drives(mp3 etc), but there are none connected.

Try installing gpu drivers with the onboard active and try again. I'm sure you already tried this but in case in all the frustration you didn't think to you never know.
What kind of psu you are you running btw?

I'm running a Coolermaster GX 650W Bronze+, already tried that with my other GPU active, can't boot with the n560 in so I think it's the same as with onboard. Anyways according to ASUS and MSI my GPU is dead, problem is I don't have the topping of my box anymore, so I guess I can't return it.

Sorry to hear that. I must concur then with MSI. Ask them if they will take the return anyways. You may be surprised sometimes if you get a good customer service rep. We've pretty much ruled everything else out. Good luck!
