OK, so I got my new harddrive today, a 80 Gb Seagate Barracuda. My computer is from Dell (don't blame me for that please!) and I had allready to HD's in it; the original Maxtor (20 Gb) and an old IBM (5200/15 gb). As the master/maxtor just doesnt seem to be removable I figured I'd let it be the master, remove the smaller IBM-disk and replace it with the new Seagate.
Problem: when Windows (2000 pro) loads it seems OK but then my computer just reboots. Looked in BIOS - the Seagate is there and identified correctly. Changed from autoboot to "blue screen" and read this message:

*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFF0, 0x00000000, 0x8044F268, 0x00000000)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
*** Address 8044F268 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3d366b8b - ntoskrnl.exe
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support group.

And ideas why this is happening? It is extremly frustrating - and the fact that I can't make the Seagate master is even more so...

hoping for some useful input here,
Magnus

You can try to return to your old set-up,and see if the system runs normally. That will at least tell you where to start troubleshooting.Good luck.

If ya don't ask..How ya gonna know.
