hi there...i,am new member :)
i'm little weak in English, so excuse me :)

i have a problem with my PC...my MB is ASUS P5KPL/1600 and it has 2x1GB Geil 800MHZ (on Slot 1 and 3 From CPU)...i bought a new RAM, 2GB Geil 800MHZ...after plug in new RAM with other 2x1 GB monitor doesn't work and doesn't have any beep, just monitor doesn't turn on! but when unplug one of 1 GB RAM every thing is ok and System Run With 3GB RAM.

Check all three RAM alone on MB and all of them is Correct.

i should say when i plug any 2 RAM (even old RAM,s) side by side in 2 slot (ex : slot 1 and 2 form CPU OR slot 3 and 4) again have same problem, that mean monitor doesn't work!!!

guys, i hope help me...thank you :)

Solution
What you have is a memory interleaving problem. Your motherboard support dual channel interleaving. And that is taking two RAMs and reading/ Writing to both RAMs at the same time(half by half). Then the performance is increased. Those memory channels are (1 and 3) and (2 and 4)

Somehow your motherboard has turned it on forcefully. So when you plug two sticks of rams to 1 and 2, or 3 and 4 both rams are missing the other half of the pair. That's why it doesn't work. It can be the same with 3 RAMs. 1 and 3 is fine with the 1GB RAMs. But the 2GB ram in slot 2 is missing it's other half at slot 4.

Your motherboard chipset is a G31. So it'll only support up to 4GB. So my advice is, sell either 2GB and get a 1GB pair or sell the 1GB pair...

But setting it with a 2GB X2 configuration is advised since it'll create less stress on the board as well as it tends to give you less errors.

tnx 4 reply.
if i get a 1GB pair don't have any problem??
you know, because in asus web site on my MB page writhing : "When installing four DDR2 DIMM modules, install only single-sided memory modules". for four RAM it want DIMM SS!
all my RAM,s is DIMM DS...my only way is just get a 2GB RAM, Correct ?
have any solution?
