Problem with AOC monitor

I just recently bought the AOC i2367Fh and it was delivered today. When I got it, I plugged in a VGA cable until I could get an HDMI cable. Everything was fine with the VGA connection. However when I got an HDMI cable and plugged it into the port, about an inch of the display on the right and left sides and about a half an inch on the top and bottom were cut off. Actually it was more like the display shrunk and is now not filling up 100% of the space that it could. I've tried going to the AOC website and finding something but no luck. And I'm currently still on hold with their tech support number. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

right click your desktop and select "screen resolution". Make sure that the recommended resolution is selected.
