Problem with audio jack

I have a hp laptop with only 1 Audio jack, the symbol beside the jack shows a headphone with mic on it, so it seems to be a combined mic and headphone jack. I cant use my headphones on it, is there any way i can use them?

Without knowing what headphones you have, no way to know, but there are adapters for convert dual mic and speaker jacks to the combo jacks. Look for a 3 pole to 4 pole headset adapter if your headphones have those dual connections.
