Problem with HD 7870

I have a reference radeon HD 7870. It was working fine for 2 -3 days since I have purchased but suddenly after turning on my computer for 15 to 20 minutes the screen goes off and my gpu fan ramps up to full speed. It is happening with me every day I have a DVI to VGA adapter too since I am using an old monitor. How to solve that issue? Please help!!!

I have already replaced it 3 times but the second time problem was not occurring but the GPU was a bit defective so I replaced it again and now the same problem occurring again.

I have a intel DH61WW which is replaced by intel 1 month ago.

So why do you not write down the history of the rig and what has been replaced in the past! Include as well all the problems you had and why you replaced the parts and if it was the solution.

I have only replaced the mobo and the GPU which I have already mentioned. And the mobo is not related for the replacement of the GPU.

I replaced the mobo because there is a failure while updating the BIOS.

Ok totally unrelated to current problem, so if not GPU then it is in between the motherboard or the CPU.

So you mean that changing the mobo will solve the problem?

Possibly! It can as well be the CPU it is guess work without replacing parts, even PSU could be the culprit.

I have also tried in other systems but the same problem is occurring.

Yes the 2 times they have given was the powercolor radeon HD 7870 V2 but the third time they given was the reference card.

That is a strange situation but looks like you have to do it the fourth time. As you do it check your PSU voltages it may be out of specs killing the cards!

It has a 12V rail design so what is the problem?

Well the voltage has to be with in +/- 5% of 12 volts (11.4-12.6) if it is not it can kill parts.
