Hello everyone,my ping goes up to 1000ms and falls to normal(just for 2sec),this happens on both valve servers and community servers, this is happening after i had problems with AMD driver(previous beta driver didnt work for me,yesterdays new driver worked for me). When I tried to play counter strike :Source,it also had the same problem.i have tried reinstalling CSGO and Steam,it didnt work. But Battlefield 3 had no such problems it works fine without any lag.i have checked task manager closed all useless things .i dont think its my ISP's fault because i have been Using it for more than 3 years never had such problems,my friend is playing fine(same ISP) he is playing fine.pls Help me

Solution
Might be an issue downstream from you. You can try pinging the server IP directly from a command prompt window and see if you get occasional high pings. If it's only that one title, then I'd assume its downstream of you.
Hi akhil512,

first of all the ping has nothing to do with your fps. The pin describes the latency or let's say it in easy words "the lag or delay" a signal needs to get from your pc to the actual server and back to your pc to determine the postion of your model, shooting and so on... One can perceive a sligtly better ping if your hardware is high-end compared to low-end hardware but that's cause of a better performing outgoing connection to the server and has nothing to do with your ISP. In most of the cases a ping which suddenly rises very fast is an evidence that someone in your surrounding downloading some heavy stuff 😀 An initial high ping when connecting to a server "can" be normal in some cases especially when a lot of people playing simultaneously on the server. Try to uninstall all your graphics card's drivers and reinstall them properly. If you did so run a CS benchmark to see if it works.

i have been playing CSGO for almost 5months never had such problems,i updated to latest beta driver(18-nov) it didnt fix.No one uses my internet.here is a pic of my task manager http://i.imgur.com/esaQO9I.png

CS is rather cpu hungry than gpu, maybe that's an idea.

But if you've 1000ms in the first 2 sec. then forget about the problem and keep on playing if the ping drops immediately a few seconds later? The freeze time will be longer than that 😀

its unplayable you cant move for those few seconds(teleporting),this lag comes atleast 2-3 times a minute

What's your ISP? Those ping numbers are VERY high; you really shouldn't be seeing 80's for every single hop, especially the first few.

Just for kicks, what does pingtest.net come back with?
