Problem with psu cpu cable

I bought the asus h97 plus and evga supernova g2 850 watts power supply, the problem is that the motherboard requires an 8 pin cpu connector, but my psu cpu cable has one 8 pin which has to go into the psu and the other end two four pin connectors, but one of the two four pin connectors dont match my motherboard making it a 4 pin connector, what should i do? My cpu is i7 4790k.

Those two four pin plugs do work. It's called a 4+4 pin plug and many/most PSUs come with them. Try again, you might need to reverse them.

But one of them the plastic slots are all oval, theres no square ones

Round holes go into square pegs. You might need to turn it around? My PSU has a 4+4 plug and it went into my board just fine.
