I have a bit of a weird issue with my Atrix Guild Series keyboard, that I was wondering if anyone could provide any insight with, figured to ask here. I've had this board since November and I'm not too sure when it started but I've been bothered by it for maybe 2 months now; I don't think it started when I got my new PC in February, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's related
my SHIFT key (the left one, obviously, I have never used the right-side one in my life) is pretty selective sometimes. most of the time, it works just fine, but there are some cases during the day where it doesn't really work; I could be holding the key down just fine, but it doesn't capitalize the letter I am trying to type. at first I thought maybe I was taking my finger off the SHIFT key too fast because I'm a really quick typer, but it definitely isn't the case; I was holding it down earlier while trying to spoiler tag a Discord message and instead of typing '||" it was typing "\\" like I wasn't even pressing it
it's not limited to Discord, it happens in Chrome, Reddit, and Word, where sometimes the letters just don't capitalize when pressing the Shift key. however, when I'm in-game, whether it be Destiny 2 or Monster Hunter or anything, I don't think I've ever had this issue with the SHIFT key, and if I have, it definitely hasn't been as severe or prominent as these other apps. usually I can get it to work by just taking my finger back off and pressing it again, but sometimes I have to do that like 5 times before it works, and then it might start working again for another 2 hours before doing this again, or it might happen on the next capitalized letter I attempt to type
no other key seems to be affected by this either. the SHIFT key is the only key where it might just NOT work if I press it, every other letter and number key seems to work just fine. it doesn't seem to be based on where I'm clicking it, I've tried clicking the SHIFT key in the center, far left, and far right areas of the key, but there's no correlation, it seems
I went through Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Keyboards to see if it could detect anything but it says that it doesn't detect any issues and no action needs to be taken. I have 3 HID Keyboard Devices in the Device Manager, just like my old PC, but I tried clicking Update just in case, which comes up with "Best Drivers are Already Installed" as expected. don't believe my keyboard really has "drivers" or any kind of support I can install, as far as I am aware
I've disconnected the USB at the back of the keyboard and reconnected it multiple times and although I haven't been able to give it a thorough clean, I've wiped tissues through the larger crevices and blown into the keyboard in case of any dust. despite this, I don't believe there's enough dust underneath the key at all for it to be getting stuck. ran MalwareBytes and Windows Defender as well on the off-chance, but that's all clear as well; using SFC /scannow in Command Prompt also turns up nothing
the SHIFT key also does not feel stuck either, it feels the same as the rest of my keyboard, it's just like it's really sensitive and doesn't read my inputs consistently...I'm not sure if it's Windows, nothing crops up on the troubleshooter or Device Manager, but unplugging doesn't work either. any ideas on what it could be? sounding more like a keyboard-specific issue or a Windows-specific issue?
