Alright I currently have an AMD build as my gaming rig. Haven't upgraded the processor because there's no further upgrade path lol.
It's an

AMD FX-8350
ASUS M5A99FX
8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 Mhz (2x4)
1TB hard drive(hardly matters)
Broken GTX 970 replaced by old AMD 7850 1GB (lol I 1GB know. long story)
seasonic 630 watt PSU

Now I've recently bought a used Dell Inspiron 3847 and it comes with an i5-4460. It's got 8GB ram (unsure on speed and motherboard capabilities). Now I've got an EVGA 500 watts 80+ bronze that I bought recently but didn't need for my sister's low-end gaming PC with an i3-4130 and gtx 750 ti.

Now the thing is, I'm buying a PowerColor RX 480 8GB and I'm kicking myself here because I KNOW that the intel i5-4460 will run circles around my fx-8350 in quite a number of games, but I'm uncertain as to the capabilities of this new system. I've got another GPU to put inside of this one (gtx 750 ti) and I'm sitting here thinking I might be wasting a good video card like the RX 480 on an inferior system (AMD).

I don't have much experience with intel (hate them as a company - hence why my first intel system is used) so I was looking to inquire with the rest of the crowd as to the pros and cons of abandoning my AMD hardware because I really don't know what to expect with this new system and really worried about the motherboard bottlenecking the processor.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post =)

Eh, I'd take the 4460, and its mobo and put them in your case you COULD combine the two sets of Ram, but be aware that it can easily cause issues, if so, your current ram kit is porbably better than what came with the mobo.
Your PSU is also beter than that EVGA.

The 4460 is about 20% better all around than the fx-8350, which can be a lot in certain games.

You'd definitely be wasting the rx-480 on your 8350 system.

Don't hate intel for making a better product, as soon as AMD starts making better CPUs, the shoe will be on the other foot.

Only thing I worry about is the motherboard. =\ Then again I have my upgrade path for the next couple of years if I stick with the intel platform lol. I was going to build an AMD zen system from scratch, but I might wait for the zen+ platform and this would tide me over until then. I know my friends have been telling me to go ahead and OC my fx-8350, but damn... I can just picture the increase in performance with my blizzard games lol.

And my gripe with intel has to do with taking government grant money and firing US workers. Then when people bought special motherboards to overclock their i3-6100s or i5-6400s intel went ahead and blocked them from doing so in the future lol. AMD never fleeces its customers by blocking them like that. >_< Another piece of my mind is screaming, "but that FPS, tho!" lol

I was considering upgrading the motherboard to this motherboard in a few months lol.

To be fair... it's still possible to OC the locked i3/i5/i7 skylakes.

The motherboard is an upgrade, not the greatest for OCing, and if you're not gonna OC your future intel CPU, it won't provide any immediate benefits (except maybe more sata ports and a high (but useless) ram limit)

I'm sure if AMD got enough government money they'd do the same thing.
Corporations are all the same.

Like, currently your sisters computer is a better gamer than yours.

I can't speak for government grant money, but AMD has a history of serious upper-management corruption. Additionally, AMD sells plenty of locked CPUs. Motherboard manufacturers don't bother to find ways around AMD's locks because they're generally all low performance chips anyway. Also, any time AMD has been on top, they've done serious price-gouging. I'm not saying they're any worse than Intel, but I doubt they're any better, they just have a different set of problems due to being a market underdog.
