Hello all.

Looking to solve an issue installing windows 10 on a PC im putting together for a friend.

Specs:
Gigabyte H97M D3H
i3 - 4370
8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical (2x4GB)
Sandisk SSD Plus 480GB
LiteOn IHAS124-14 DVDRW
Windows 10 64bit

This is attempting to be installed on a new PC, not an upgrade to an existing 7 or 8/8.1 system.

Unfortunately I don't have a system speaker at the moment so can't provide details on beeps.

Basically I can't get beyond the Blue Windows Logo, and the system ends up in a bootloop if left at that screen. It gives me the "Press any key to begin install from CD or DVD" then proceeds to stall at the Next stage. This is when trying to install from the Windows 10 Disc.

I've tried installing through a USB stick also (Though initially it wasn't recognising the USB device at all, had to reset bios for it to). Having used Windows Media Creation Tool and Rufus to create a few bootable USBs. When trying this method, the pc just hangs at the "Gigabyte - Insist on Ultra Durable" splash screen, before powering off and restarting. Have tried the USB drive in both 2.0 and 3.0 ports. If I switch in the PC then plug in the boot able USB, the bios fails to recognise it
(I get a screen saying insert bootable media into drive, then press any key, though pressing keys does nothing, the message just repeats.)

I've tried resetting the bios, which allows me to go into the settings, where I've ensured the USB drive (Some Sandisk Cruzer thing, I forget the exact name) or Optical Drive, is Boot Option #1 depending in which I was trying.
Have tried with the drive formatted to NTFS and Fats32, and with MBR and GPT partitions.

The bios screen looks the same as the one in this picture

Except OS type is set to Other OS instead of Windows 8, and I have tried the boot mode selection in all three of the ones shown (UEFI or Legacy, Legacy Only, UEFI only)

The only other USB devices connected during all attempts are mouse and keyboard(Some old Dell things he had laying around)

I have another PC which I built last year using the same mobo, which installed windows 8 from a usb just fine (and is now running Windows 10).

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.

Sandisc Cruisers act as Hard drives (http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-SanDisk-USB-Flash-Drives/Cruzer-Blade-USB-Flash-Drives-16-Gb-Acts-like-a-normal-harddisk/td-p/297958) so you can't use them as an install disc - someone ran into this last week. Try it with another USB drive

I don't know why it would ignore the dvd, it may restrict you if fast boot turned on.

I ended up changing the mobo out with a spare one I had knocking about and it seems to be working now, at least the USB installation does. Still hangs at the Windows logo screen if I try using the disc though.

On a side note, on my own PC I used an 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Force to install Windows 8.1, and on this one for my friend I used a 64GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade. Both seem to have worked as bootable USB drives.

I don't know why it would ignore the dvd, it may restrict you if fast boot turned on.

Fast boot was disabled in both the Bios on the original Gigabyte mobo, and on the Asus one I switched to.

Thanks for the reply.
