Problems installing windows xp on a hp pavilion a430n

I got a error saying that my windows was currupt or damage when I restarted. I tried the recovery but the cumputer hung up on would not do anything. At first I thought maybe a bad drive. So I took the dive out put it in my dell computer and it worked fine. So I put it back into the hp computer and got the same message. So I decided to try to reinstall the OS and it gets hung up right after the screen that ask if you want to install windows or repair not to sure what to do now.

Try to choose to repair and if that doesn't work try to reinstall.

I think I would first check the memory -- if there are more than one modules try removing one and see if it sures it, if not replace that and remove the other and try again.
