Hello all,

I've just set up a w2k print cluster environment. I've got a problem
with a certain printdriver. When I change some settings of the
printer (like "print on both sides" in "printing defaults") that uses
that particular driver, the changes are not saved (so the option
"print on both sides" is not ticked). This only happens with printers
who use that driver AND are created on the virtual server. If I
created a printer with that particular driver on a cluster node
itself, it works fine (so I can change settings and settings are
saved). Are there other people who have the same problem or people
who can help me to solve this?

thanks in advance,

Joeri Kumbruck

A common cause for this is when people configure the driver
on the local node rather than on the virtual server. This does
not affect the virtual prinetr and even the local node settings
will be left behind after failover. For this reason I usually
recommend that all printers on the local node be deleted in
order to prevent confusion. Deleteing local node printers
does not delete the printer drivers and does not affect the
virtual printers.

In your case, make sure that you are configuring the virtual
printer and not the local printer or the virtual share. Configure
it from another machine going through My Network Places ->
Entire Network -> Windows Network -> DomainName ->
VirtualServerName(not individual node) -> Printers ->
PrinterName.
