Problems running game on second monitor while fullscreen another game on primary

Ok so here goes... Basically I have 2 monitors, and I run one game on the secondary one in windowed mode, and sometimes I want to pull another game up in fullscreen mode on the main monitor. However, when I do this the game on the secondary monitor will freeze up, or it will blank out and pop up an error message saying an error occurred resetting D3D click ok to retry.

Now here's the trouble/weird part, I know what most threads say on this is just run the primary game as borderless windowed etc. but I have Gsync, so I don't want to run the game that way(as gsync only works in fullscreen mode). But also the weird part, If i switch the primary game to windowed borderless and then load into a level and switch it back to fullscreen once in game, about 90% of the time this will fix my issue and allow my primary game to fullscreen and the secondary game displays fine on the other monitor. In the odd 10% of times this doesnt work, I just put it back to borderless windowed, and back to fullscreen again and usually that does it.

So really what this comes down to is, my PC and hardware etc IS CAPABLE of running both fine with the primary one fullscreened, but i'd like to get around the requirement of toggling the fullscreen setting to make it do that, and also I want to understand why that fixes it/why it doesnt work in the first place.

I can't seem to find a lot of insight on this, as most people asking are fine switching to borderless windowed.

If anyone has any idea please let me know!

Not sure what the error is(I'll look into it). But fullscreen will freeze/black out your other monitor, that's what fullscreen is, It goes overtop everything.(if you don't like it that's why they made borderless). I honestly hate fullscreen. It doesn't tab out well, it minimizes if you do and can come out of fullscreen(into windowed and you have to fix it). Some applications will not let you tab out(they force you back in so you have to completely exit)... sorry for not helping

Update: Also there is supposedly G-Sync support for windowed mode. From Nvidia: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/g-sync-gets-even-better

Also are you getting that error on Diablo III?

Yes the error is on Diablo III.

I get what you're saying about fullscreen blocking out the other monitor, that's the weird thing though if i toggle my main monitor game to windowed, then get into a match and toggle it back to fullscreen it will be in fullscreen and the game on secondary monitor will be visible and not frozen no error etc. it is working as if it was the focused window. So on some level it is possible to have both, I'm just not really sure how to achieve it without toggling border on for a second before fullscreening, and would be curious to see if there's a way to make it do that from that start

Oh and I guess I should say, the fullscreen completely blacking out the second monitor used to happen to me, but it doesnt any more, it's just that when I have diablo over there the game stops rendering unless I play with toggling fullscreen, but other programs will still be visible, like if i put a web browser over there etc. background pic is always visible too even if no program is over there.
