Problems transfering files

Hello,
dont know how to tranfer files from my old hard drive which i toke out of my old computer which died on me.the old computer was running vista and the new one is windows 7. have alraedy bought the hard drive cable adapter

if the drive actually works and your hard drive adapter cable is the usb type then plug the drive into the cable and then plug the cable into the computer.
