Problems with EPoX 9NDA3+ and memory

I have just installed this mobo with a A64 3200+ (939 winchester). It is a
great board but seems very finicky when it comes to memory. I know that the
Athlon 64s are more touchy on memory. I have 2x512mb sticks of Corsair XMS
3200C2 (CMX512-3200) memory and I can not run them dual channel, they are
only running at 333, and it only sees a total of 512mb of ram. These were
not a matched pair, they were bought months apart. One is v2.2 and the other
is v3.1.

I have tried changing memory settings with no luck. I have tried all the
dimm slot combinations. I have confirmed that all the dimm slots work and
that both sticks work. Even though windows sees only 512mb I can see both
sticks of the memory while in CPU-Z. If I have one stick in it runs at 200
and if 2 in at 167. I'm running the latest bios for the motherboard. These
sticks ran dual channel on an ASUS A7N8X V2 Deluxe mobo.

I have another 256mb 2700 stick of PNY memory and did some testing. It
appears that when I have a stick in dimm slot 1 and dimm slot 3 (the only
way to run non-dual channel) the system is only running the memory in dimm
slot 3: when I have the 512mb Corsair stick in dimm slot 1 and the 256mb
stick in dimm slot 3 the system only read 256mb of ram. I only have to go
into the bios to see how much memory is being read.

I'm at a loss. I know the Corsair memory is not defective because I can run
in other system (and in dual channel). There seems to be a promlem with the
memory controller in the CPU (as it is in A64) or a problem with the mobo.
Anyone out there have any ideas or know how can I can figure out if cpu or
mobo?

Please help!

Thanks!

I know you said you tried all combinations but just to be sure- put them
in slots three and four. Then when you boot up - do you get the full
gigabyte in the bios post screen?

#2 have you updated the bios on your motherboard? I know there were some
memory issues early on with the +

I beleive your memory is in that list.

Thank you for reply.

I tried 3 and 4. It will not even boot. Stops at C1.

I have never had 1gb in bios post screen. Yes, I have the latest bios. I
havew also tried all 4 bioses that have been released for board. My memory
is not on thier list. The memory on their list is expensive memory, it cost
about $250-300 for 2 512mb sticks. I would like to avoid buying more memory.
I would get a different mobo first.

Since making first post I have tried several more things:
1. Tried 3 more different sticks (256mb PNY 2700 one sided, 512mb Corsair
3200 Value select, and 256mb Giel 2100). They all work on motherboard bu no
combination of 2 dimms works.
2. Ran memtest86+ on all memory with no problems.
3. Underclocked memory all the way down to 100mhz.
4. Tried all different settings on HT (1X - 5X).

I'm tempted to drop this board and get a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum but I can
not find anywhere.

Any other ideas?
