Problems with HDD

So yesterday at night, I had my laptop on my lap. Everything was fine, I was skyping with my friend and stuff. I was about to open up League Of Legends until Windows became unresponsive and I couldn't do anything. So I was forced to hold the power button for 5 seconds so my laptop could shut down. Once I did that, I booted up and then I got a error message saying that I need to reboot and select proper boot device. Is this a problem with my hard drive? What's wrong? I haven't tampered with anything. I reset the BIOS settings to default and still no changes. Also, my hard drive is not found in the BIOS.

If your hdd is not visible in bios its most likely its faulty.
Do you know when you have a laptop 'on your lap'
It overheats? And moving it while the drive is running can damage the drive if its not solid state. They should be used on a flat surface.
