I just got my self a brand new Radeon 8500 for my second computer, everytime I start the system the screen is green and really distorted.
The problem is because everytime the computer starts it defaults to YPbPr mode rather than monitor mode. Once I switch to the monitor mode everything is fine...untill I restart the computer that is.
ATI says that the issue was fixed with the newest driver, but im using the latest drivers and its still happening.

Anyone had a simlilar problem? Know how I can sort it out?

Don't know. That seems like it would be a function of Display Properties, setting the default display device that is.

Did you try Omega's Drivers, <A HREF="http://www.omegacorner.com" target="_new">www.omegacorner.com</A>?

Yeah, I have the exact same problem. My monitor was kind of a non brand-name one which switched companies later on. I think it's called Likom now. I'm assuming you're running Windows XP. It took me a while to figure this one out but here's what you do. Don't turn on the monitor until Windows has logged on. Just wait for the logon sound, then turn it on. The green stuff goes away after that. I'm not sure why, but it works for me.
If that doesn't fix it then you can boot it up with another monitor that works, then once Windows has booted, switch the monitors and save that profile in the Monitor tab of the Advanced display properties. Bind that setting to a hotkey. Now when you boot up, even if the screen is green, you can hit the hotkey and it'll reset the monitor and should be fine. If you want to use a certain refresh rate, just download powerstrip and lock the refresh rate.
I hope this helps.

Yeh I have bound a hot key to the monitor now, but its a bit of a bitch having to do it everytime. Ah well guess I will have to live with it.
Well thanx for your help anyway.

In ATI's Display Tab, Monitor Properties, force the refresh rate to 75Hz or 60Hz, and select a proper maximum resolution..not sure this helps, but you could always try
