hi,i have above motherboard.have 8gb ram total 4 x 2gb
the total the motherboard will support is 16gb,so i bought four 4gb ram cards(or whatever they are called)
putthem in,and the pc wouldnt boot, monitor not comming on.
i took ram out and realised there is 3 blue slots and one black slot.
if i put 3 of the rams into the blue slots which is 12gb total the pc boots, but if i put the other back in to the black slot the pc wont boot.
what is the prob?
thanks

hi,thanks for reply. the make of memory is hypertec.
i took all out and put one of them into the black slot and windows dosent boot.
it seems to be something to do with that black slot.
i previously had 8gb total 4x2 gb so the black slot works

cant be defectivr slot,as worked ok yesterday when four 2gb sticks were in
was comming up in system info as 8gb ram
im trying different options here.ill get back later
thanks

ok tried 2 of the 4gb sticks in and pc not booting. weird, since earlier i had 3 in and was getting 12gb ram
"resetting your motherboard BIOS to default settings" that sounds like i could mess something up very easily, how can i do that if i cant even get the screen where i get into bios?

ok,now im in a real mess!
i have put back in my original 4x2gb sticks and same thing happenning with them
windows not booting
the DRAM redlight is flashing,it was flashing with the new ram also

ok,what i done was unplug cables, turn power switch off, took ram out, took CMOS battery out, held power button down for 30 secs or so,put the new ram in,put CMOS battery in,wired up,switched on and........
same story,not booting
OMG unbelievable

To reset BIOS:

1. Disconnect all power sources (power cable, video cable, powered speakers, etc).
2. Remove the motherboard battery.
3. Press the power button to discharge any residual power in the system.
4. Wait 1 minute and then reinstall the battery and reconnect items previously disconnected.
5. Power on. Motherboard should be running default settings.

ok latest
i done CMOS thing again, this time put old RAM in and it booted now
it took me to page
CMOS date/time not set
press f1 to run setup f2 to load default values and continue
i pressed f2 windows booted up but i was missing icons from desktop
realised windows has booted from the HDD i used to boot windows from
i had installed windows on an ssd a year ago
i guess i have to go into BIOS and select the ssd as bootup

so i done the CMOS thing again to see if i press f1 will it boot correctly

i am on please enter setup to recover BIOS setting page now
shall i select f1? or was i correct last time by selecting f2?

i got it sorted, changed something, and then it became available in boot order selection.
but the hits just keep on comming.
i have dual monitor setup, but only one monitor now active.
when i press detect it dosent detect the other monitor.
back last year i had to put one of the monitors on the integrated graphics port,as my radeon, one of the outputs was putting a red haze on the output.
it was going fine,untill now.
im guessing i have to set something up again in Bios for this?

couldnt figure out how to do that, then remembered i posted on here last year when i had the red tint problem.
someone helped me get 2nd monitor going on integrated graphics
went back and looked there and got it sorted.
thanks for ur help.
im so tempted to try my new ram again!
i guess ud recommend to not do that! hehe
