I'm wanting to build up a new system with an AMD Phenom II X3 720 and an ATI Radeon HD 4870. The system is mainly meant for playing the likes of Crysis, Farcry 2 and Call of Duty. Can anyone tell me how the components will play the game (s)? I was hoping for settings on medium/high. Thanks for any help.

The resolution is a very big factor on how well your setup will handle the game. Do you plan on overclocking the CPU or GPU?

I would say at 1680x1050 (22" monitor) without overclocking you should expect to be able to put it on medium/high settings (no AA), but not on enthusiast.

It's pretty easy to overclock the 720 BE. Just read the sticky. You could probably go with a mild overclock of 3.0GHz by just changing the multiplier and leaving all the other settings alone. At 1440*900 you should be able to play most games on high if not the highest settings. Crysis should be fine on high, but trying for very high will give you some slowdown so not a good idea 😀.

I'd get 35-45FPS in Crysis on enthusiast settings with X4 AA with my 3.6ghz i7 and a GTX 260, to give you an idea. If you push the 720 to 3.4-3.6ghz, you should be able to manage some playable framerates on enthusiast in Crysis if you leave the AA off. All other games will be smooth sailing on highest settings.

So the graphics card will do fine for Crysis & co.? ( ATI Radeon HD 4870)

Ok, so the system would work now, but then... how long would it take until I'd have to upgrade a part of it? cuz If it'll only last a year or so I'd rather get the better parts so I don't have to get 'em later. And If any one has tips for a PC for around 900-1100 EUR (~1300-~1500 USD), they are definitely welcome. Hope the budget will be enough to last me a couple of years.

...can Newegg deliver to Germany aswell?
