I just got a new pentium 4 3.20ghz, i have installed it into an asus P4P/E
motherboard. The problem is the computer loads xp ok but the processor
speed reads just 1.60ghz. I thought the motherboard could carry a processor
of this speed so i am a bit confused. All the settings in the bios are auto
but it still reads 1.60ghz.

any help on this problem would be appreciated

According to the Asus website, although this motherboard will support up to
P4 3.0Ghz, it does not say it is ready or carries support for the P4
Prescott which is what I believe you may have purchased.

You'd need to contact Asus.
