Processor reommendations for use with ddr2 memory?

I have 4gb off ddr2, a case, and some old hardware and may want to throw together a cheap little linux box(it would have a gui). What is a good processor choice for this Amd or intel it doesnt matter. Id perfer to have at least a quad core with a low tdp of 65w or less but that is kinda picky and only seems to leave a core 2 quad

If you just have the RAM, no motherboard or CPU, you aren't going to be losing a whole lot by just scrapping the ram and getting some newer components.

Yea I know a new system will do much better(and is most likely worth it) just wanted some opinions because I hate stuff going to waste., also wanted to make a classicmachine but the PII is fine. wish it was mobile ddr2 as i have some latitudes that could use it.

But I agree with the opinion above about getting modern stuff.

If you have a local university or are near a large city, you can often find surplus machines for $50 or so. They are typically workstations and have higher end processors (for that era). Slap a decent GPU in it and you have a classic rig. There are a lot of old Dell Optiplex' looking for a good home.
