Processor suddenly became unstable after a month of stability. Bad sign?

My processor has been sitting at 4.5 Ghz for a month now, and I've never had a problem and it passed all stress tests. Yesterday my games started freezing up and i restarted the Pc to find the "overclock failed" message, despite having changed no settings. I bumped it down to 4.2 and it seems okay for now. Does this mean my CPU degraded that much in 1 month? It's a 5930k and is cooled by the Swifttech H-240x.

Idle is sitting at around 30 C, and 100% load is 60 C. This is at 4.2 and 1.27 V. Psu is the Corsair RM 1000.

So you temperatures are good, your voltage seems ok and your PSU is big enough and a good PSU too. Ok it looks like it's going to be harder to solve than I thought.

So you temperatures are good, your voltage seems ok and your PSU is big enough and a good PSU too. Ok it looks like it's going to be harder to solve than I thought.

My motherboard has been unusually hot lately (47 C at idle).

Yes 47 degrees sounds very bad! My motherboard the Asus Z97 Pro Gamer idles at 20 degree and stays at 20-25 degrees all the time.

It sounds like a RAM or mobo issue then. 47 degrees is way too high for the mobo. It should be under 30!
