I'm an IT Specialist and this issue is really driving me crazy today, hope I could brain storm with you guys. Recently upgraded my machine and did a clean Windows 10 install on a WD Black NVME, here's my new system specs:
  • Intel Core i7-10700KF
  • Viper Steel Series DDR4 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3600MHz
  • ASUS PRIME Z490-A LGA 1200
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 - 8GB
  • WD Black 2TB SN750 NVMe
For the last couple of days certain programs just won't stay open. Browsers work fine, but things like Malwarebytes, or MSCONFIG will open and the immediately shutdown. I'm also unable to run any new installs because the setup file will open and the immediately shutdown. I am able to boot into Safemode and install things there so I've already run several anti-virus programs, SFC / SCANNOW, Disk Check, my next step is to run TWEAKING.COM Windows Repair. I'm currently running AVG's deep scan. Obviously restarted multiple times, updated all drivers, updated BIOS and updated Windows.

I'd REALLY like to avoid reinstalling Windows again, it takes days to get all my programs / settings configured each time.

Thank you 👏

Been using the Farbar utility for 15 years, it will provide a lot of useful info about the problem.

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool is used in malware & other forums. Here are a few of them.

See if you can run this.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not your Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.
If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt) on the Desktop.
The logs are large, upload them using this. No time delays/Captcha-I'm not a Robot/account/registration needed. Give us the links please.

PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition?

Before running any additional software look in Window's own Reliability History and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or even informational events that correspond with the times of the shutdowns or other related problems.

You can also use Resource Monitor and Task Manager (use both but only one at time) to observe system performance. Determine what resources are in use, to what extent (%), and what is using any given resource. In Task Manager look for any unexpected or unidentifiable apps being launched via the Startup Tab.

Try opening the browser while watching - you may be able to catch some change that leads to the shutdown....

Installing 3rd party utilities can prove viable in identifying and fixing some problem. But also introduces another (or other) variables. Plus the always ever present risk of also including malware of some sort.

I would forego any such utility without more information about the problem.

I think I removing all the ASUS Software resolved the situation. I'm up and running again, programs are launching successfully

Ran SnailDriver and it updated 3 drivers, Thank you - I didn't know a program like that existed I thought they were always full of ads and never actually did what they claimed. Great to learn about it! Thank you!

Updated:

PCI Express Root Complex
Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0
Intel XEON E3 1200/1500

Double check all of ASUS AI Suite 3 was removed with Geek.

Geek Uninstaller

Just Double click on the program in Geek, that you want to uninstall. If it opens a web page, close the web page & then wait for Geek to present the 2nd step.

Extract from your Addition log. If you want to run Farbar again, you will see if Snail fixed them.
