I'm planning on picking up a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard to house an E8400 processor. Originally I planned to purchase 4 gigs of Crucial DDR2 800 RAM, but it occurs to me now that maybe I should be looking at 1066. Is this the case? I don't plan to overclock... I just want to get the best fit for my system out of the gate.

Thanks!

Both are good brands, go with the one you trust. My advice would be to get a 2 x 2gb kit if you were considering 4 x 1gb. 2 x 2gb will perform better on the MOBO you have chosen.
