here's what I meant. as you can see the address, port and *.local refills it self.
When I turn on manual proxy, delete everything inside the box, turn it off again, close proxy settings, and open it again, it refills it self. Now you might say that it doesn't matter since I turn off the manual proxy, but the weird thing is it does, the proxy is always on(I think?), the only proof that I can say that is this proxy somehow limits my steam speed download and sometimes won't even connect to the steam network, and when I boot safe mode with networking, Steam connects and downloads normally, and when I check proxy settings, the box is off and there's nothing in it. my guess is there's an application that overrides this proxy. I have a guess which is simpleDNScrypt. I used to get it installed, and a couple of months later my steam broke and now I'm here. I've uninstalled it in the "add or remove programs" settings but when I go to the simplednscrypt directory, it still left a lot of files, one of them is the .exe it self which is simplednscrypt.exe, and when I go to one of the subfolders, there's one called dnscrypt-proxy.exe. I think that's the culprit but I don't know. I just deleted again all the directory but now we have the problem now, which is my proxy autofills it self.

I've checked services, nothing is called what resembles a DNS proxy, when I go to processes in task manager, there's nothing suspicious. I've tried contacting support from DNScrypt but it goes to github and the community is dead with no response whatsoever.

Solution
My current thought is that when you deleted the "scrypt files" etc. (versus uninstalling them) entries were left in the Registry.

However the Registry should be left alone until there is some specific reason otherwise.

  1. I've never used amazon, but I use zoom as a normal everyday school. I did not use zoom more than connecting and making meetings.
  2. Yes I want the proxy settings to be clear of everything. No numbers or *.local or anything, and no greyed out like in the picture above.
  3. netsh winhttp show proxy. Showed direct access: no proxy server, but the problem still continues.
  4. I've double checked and no, I still can't remove the address. I actually record it though so you can get a better look. sorry if everything looks blury, it's the imgur compression

Also I should probably tell you that when I turn on automatically detect settings on proxy settings, and when I check my ip, it says proxy detected and the location of the ip is in south africa, I'm in South east asia. when I turn it on it also loads really slowly and sometimes it would just said "no internet access" or "there might be something wrong with the proxy server". I got the setting turn off now and my ip is in my actual country and everything loads normally, except ofcourse like the problem above, steam.

Thanks for responding, I'll be up for another 2 hours probably before going to sleep

Alright! we made some progress. When I click internet options > connections > LAN settings > tick use a proxy server for your LAN > advanced, there's 3 ip like shown. So I deleted them all and to leave everything blank including the port and */local and when I untick use a proxy server for your LAN again, it no longer autofill the ip address, and when I go to proxy settings, it no longer shows the numbers and *.local but it's still greyed out unable to click. My steam connection also is still broken. one thing that I can't remove is port 80 on the bottom. Edit : So I just discovered that port 80 and the greyed out thing is normal. I guess that's it? so the proxies aren't the culprit of my steam problem? what can I do next?

What was the source of "Port 80" and "greyed out" being normal?

That implies, in my mind, that there is a default configuration setting or perhaps simply hard coded in somewhere.

If that is indeed the case, then Steam may well be broken.

What is/are the specific problem(s) with Steam?

You may need to save your games and reinstall Steam.

I ask my friend to check their proxy settings and the advanced LAN settings and even he got port 80 on the bottom and the greyed out thing, so I supposed it's normal and is the default configuration.

I've tried many things including reinstalling steam but the problem still persist, either steam won't connect or if it is connected, the download speed is tremendously slow(300kb/s, my internet is 5MB/sec) and sometimes online games won't connect to their servers. I boot into safe mode and steam is back to normal(instantly connect, 5MB/s download speed.) So my guess is there's a program interfering the steam connection, and no it's not firewall nor the antivirus as I disable it and it's still broken.

It would be unwise for me to continue the steam problem any further on this site, as the problem is irrelevant to the main problem I ask on this post. This would be the steamcommunity.com job or steam support.

Thankyou, thankyou so much, I've had this problem since 6 months ago and no one, not even google had shown me the solution except you, thankyou very much and have an absolute great day!
