PS/2 Keyboard disconnects, reconnects and starts having issues.

Hi guys, I'm not sure what's the cause of this problem, but I've been having it for awhile and I have no idea where to start to find solutions.

After hours of usage (I can't pinpoint how long, but it is generally hours of usage), my PS/2 Keyboard would stop working for a brief moment (like 1-2 seconds), reconnect by itself.
When this happens, my keyboard starts acting slow.

When I type, it doesn't feel as responsive. Like when I press and hold one button down it would:
[type that letter] -> [wait about 0.5 seconds] -> [repeatedly type that letter; about 25-35 words per second]

However, when the problem starts happening it would:
[type that letter] -> [wait about 0.5 seconds] -> [repeatedly type that letter; about 7 words per second]

I can recreate the problem by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the PS/2 cable, or I can freshly restart my computer and the problem is guaranteed to happen after a certain number of hours of usage.

I also have a USB wireless keyboard always connected when I want to work from a different place. Funny thing is, despite PS/2 keyboard acting funny, the USB wireless keyboard seems unaffected.

My PS/2 keyboard is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201042

I've been fighting this for a month now and I can't seem to find a solution. Please help me.

you are right... it does say AM and PM... guess it was late. in any case bumping posts is frowned upon. a way around this is to post some additional information that you have tried. i think the mods do it this way to keep people from bumping posts 10 times.

as far as the freezing issue.. that could have something to do with your port disconnection. if your computer is unstable it could cause ports to be unstable as well. you will need to provide all the basics...

-what pc hardware you have
-windows ver
-do you have all the updates
-did the pc work fine out of the box?
-when was the pc 100% stable
-what did you install post-100% stable pc
-have you tried a system restore back to when the pc was stable
-is a full hd format and...
try another keyboard on the ps2 port or alternatively if that rosewill has a usb connection (and just uses a usb/ps2 adapter) plug it into usb and see how it acts.

you need to figure out if its a problem with the port or not... then find out if its a problem with the keyboard.

only testing can figure this out.

oh and you may need to leave the post on here for more than 3 hours before you get a response.....dont be impatient.

I actually waited 15 hours (posted around 2AM and waited until 5PM) and it was being pushed out by other threads so I wanted to bump it without re-posting it.

Thanks for the input, though.
I thought it's the computer since it also is having a lot of issues such as freezing completely after 40-60 hours of usage. (This is guaranteed to happen in that time frame).
I'll see if I can find some keyboards to test this.

Any idea what would cause my computer to freeze as well?
I thought it was the temperature, but it seems like temps are at a very good level.

-is your pc under warranty?
-what are your pc temperatures?

anything else i missed... including all erratic behavior, etcetera

while it could be a hardware issue causing instability often its something software which either a restore or reinstall can fix. perhaps a bad driver, program incompatability, some bad code written to the os, etcetera.

i've seen stranger issues than just ports disconnecting...

but do try to test the keyboard out how i suggested
-with usb (if it uses an adapter)
-with ps/2 in another pc
-another keyboard usb (using adapter if you use one)
another ps2 keyboard in your pc

if you dont have the keyboards or another pc just do the best you can.
