Hello Fellow Tom's Hardware Users!!!
The last few days I have been testing my old Microsoft WMO mouse. USB connection works great, but when I connected it through PS/2 (using USB to PS/2 adapter) it works but everytime I shut down my computer, mouse keeps working, drawing power from PS/2 port and emitting a annoying red light. How can I prevent my computer from "giving" power to PS/2 after shutdown?
My modo: AsRock 970 Pro3 r2.0 (using the latest P1.80 BIOS update)
My OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit (Ultimate Edition)
Thank you in advance and please don't get out of the topic!!!
PS: I have tried Disabling "On/Off Play Setting" in South bridge under Advanced Settings in the BIOS and disabling any Wake Up from Keyboard-Mouse function through BIOS and Device Manager
The reason why I am using PS/2 instead of USB is that you can only increase USB polling rate up to 125hz on Windows 8 (even if on Windows 7 you could "overclock" your USB port up to 1kHz), while maximum rate of legacy PS/2 is 200hz.... just trying to see any difference
