PS3- change language and resolution

A friend of mine owns a PS3..he got it a couple of years back and he got some free games with it. One of the games is COD MW and it is italian. Is there some way to change the language to english? And also when the PS3 is turned on it says that the resolution is 1280*720 although the tv supports 1920*1080 resolution and its connected with HDMI cable..is there some way to set the default resolution for all games to 1920*1080? Thanks!

PS3 doesn't support 1920x1080. It renders all games at most at 1280x720.

I'm seeing different opinions on the net..some are saying that it supports only upto 720p and the tv upscales it to 1080p..and others are saying that it does offer 1080 support but most of the games only offer upto 720p..

The language kind of ruins the gameplay experience..any way thanks!

Well, yea they are right, I guess. PS3 theoretically supports 1080p, but no games do.
